Our goal at UC Merced Law Clinic is to provide students with free legal advice from practicing lawyers in situations where students are defenseless and unaware of their rights. The Legal Clinic also organizes several « Know Your Rights » events each year to inform students about their rights in various areas of law. In the past, we have hosted events showcasing lawyers from a wide range of areas of expertise – from criminal law to the rights of persons with disabilities. In the future, we will expand into new territories and offer Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals workshops to help UC Merced students who immigrated to the U.S. at a young age submit documents so they can qualify for government tuition. We are able to offer this comprehensive service thanks to the Genrace scholarship awarded to us by Dr. Charles Nies, Vice Chancellor of UC Merced.
