Dialogue from the episode One of Brad`s Friends: You`re not going to sue us, are you? Brad: I`ve never done that. I will meet you below. Denise: What did he mean, « go all Mannix »? Brad: When I was a kid, my role model was, so to speak. Mannix. The famous private detective? Denise: The TV character? __ Brad: Wrong answer! You will help me recover this child, or the arms will be broken, the ligaments will be cut. Electrical appliances can even be attached to the testicles, and I`m not talking about mine. Denny: Jane Fonda and I used to do it. Do you know.
Then she turned on me. They caught her doing one of those communist dog hunts. Denise and Brad go to church and Denise warns, « Remember. Everything barks. No bite. * Brad crosses paths* __ Denise: Give me the finger! Lewiston watches Denny in Larry King: Our Father Who Is in Heaven. Alan Shore: Get up, Denny. We went to the bathroom. Kirk Yes, another reference to Star Trek: the name of the homeless man was Randall KIRK. For more parallels between « Gone » and Star Trek, including the haves vs. the have-nots, visit our Trek in the Courtroom page. Disappearing Storyline #18: Early program summaries referenced the following S/L regarding Randall Kirk, the homeless man: « Instead of suing him, he wants them to represent him by suing the government for letting his wife die after the hurricane in New Orleans. » Whether they cut it for more Brad Time or there was a network memo saying that JUST had recovered from the « witches of mass destruction » attack on the US presidency in Iraq, the very real and very emotional indictment of the handling of Hurricane Katrina was, shall we say, removed. Cat + Fingers / other shows = laughter guaranteed There`s a great scene in Keen Eddie [Keeping Up Appearances] that I think influenced the finger/cat scene where Mark Valley`s [Brad] character, Eddie Arlette, puts his tooth on a friend`s kitchen counter. His roommate Fiona accidentally manages to knock him to the ground, her cat running after him and swallowing him. The room quickly cleans up when Fiona panics. Someone also noticed that the same animal theft/attachment took place in « Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang ».
See how Keen Eddie segments « Keeping Up Appearances » with the cat and the tooth.
